Application
The application is used to find out
background information of potential employees. Please fill it out as accurately
as possible. Download and complete the staff application form and fax or mail
it to Hamlin as soon as possible. Positions are filled between in March and
April. Make a photocopy of the application for your records.
In the application you will be asked about the following:
• Education, Employment, Volunteering and Community Service, and Camp
Participation: We have found that applicants with a variety of experiences provide
an extra dimension of leadership for the children enrolled in our programs.
Please list all such activities.
• Certificates, Credentials, and Professional Development: Please note
any certificates completed or under way which could be related to employment
in our programs. List all awards or courses that you have earned or completed
which could improve your performance in one of our programs. We will need copies
of certificates and/or credentials if hired.
• Skill inventory: Your skills, interests and hobbies are important to
us. Please feel free to expand on any of these areas.
• Familiarity Questions: These questions allow us to get to know you and
your interests in working with children. Please complete these questions on
an additional sheet of paper if necessary.
• Position Questions: These questions are specific to the position in
which you are applying. You should only complete the question(s) corresponding
to the position(s) in which you are applying. Please use additional space as
necessary.
References
Each new applicant must have two (2) professional references submit staff
reference forms. . Returning staff applicants must have one submitted
for them. The reference forms must be completed by a professional, not
a friend. We suggest that you use a former teacher, camp director, youth
leader, etc. Please notify your references that they may be contacted
by camp. Have your professional references download a reference form straight
from this website. Your professional references must directly
fax or send forms to Hamlin Camps. They must not send references to you.
Interviews
The Camp Director will email or phone applicants who are granted an interview.
The personal interview is a meeting between the director and the applicant.
This meeting gives the camp a better opportunity to evaluate the abilities that
we value. Please dress casually, as you would for an activity-filled
day at camp. In this interview we look at personality, energy level, leadership,
initiative, organization and other qualities that we know from experience contribute
to making excellent staff members. Following the interview, applicants will
be notified by mail of any job status.
Allow 30 - 45 minutes for the interview. Please bring a copy of your
application. You will be assessed on constructive and pertinent comments,
understanding of camp life, creative and verbal abilities, leadership qualities,
attitudes, organizational abilities, and real, not theoretical, experiences.
Please prepare questions for us as well!
If possible, you may be asked to visit camp during one of the Holiday Camp days.
This is a great opportunity to see an applicant work hands-on with campers.
Please let us know if you would be available during any of these days.
