Title: Group Leader
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Be responsible for physical, emotional and
social needs and growth of all the campers in a campgroup.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in
a day camp setting.
2. Be a leader of a campgroup:
• Be your campers’ advocate,
• Plan, prepare and lead CampGroup Adventures,
• Prepare for campers arrival on opening days,
• Greet each camper in campgroup each day,
• “Check-in” with each camper at least once per day,
• Supervise, participate and encourage campers during campfires,
• Aid in daily camper departures,
• Mentor, support, involve and evaluate Activity and Junior Leaders,
• Meet weekly with Operations Director and/or Camp Director,
• Facilitate activities and communication during non-structured times,
• Maintain open communication with parents of campers,
• Prepare campers for closure at the end of each session,
• Plan a campgroup presentation for Fireside Finale,
• Prepare weekly thumbnail sketches on each camper, and
• Prepare written camper reports on each 3-week camper.
3. Be a supporter in camp program components:
• Assist Activity Leaders with their activities,
• Assist prepare and run Theme Day activities,
• Assist prepare and run Phat Tuesday activities,
• Assist Overnight Coordinator prepare and run Overnight activities,
and
• Assist PM Care Coordinator with camper care and supervision once per
week.
4. Be a student:
• Attend staff training and apply what is learned,
• Attend all staff meetings,
• Evaluate camp, supervisors and self, and
• Offer and receive feedback with all other staff.
Title: Activity Leader
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Be responsible for safety, planning, teaching
and equipment of a particular activity area.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in
a day camp setting.
2. Be a leader of an activity area (Arts & Crafts, Climbing
Wall, Outdoor Living, Perfroming Arts, Sports & Games, Yearbook/Newspaper,
etc.):
• Plan, prepare and lead Morning Activities,
• Administer safety policies for program areas,
• Greet and “check-in” with each camper at each activity,
• Take roll and notify Operations Director with attendance at each activity,
• Involve and work with other Leaders who support the activity,
• Meet weekly with Operations Director and/or Camp Director,
• Facilitate activities and communication during non-structured times,
• Maintain open communication with parents of campers,
• Prepare campers for closure at the end of each session,
• Plan an activity presentation for Fireside Finale,
• Maintain and update activity binder,
• Take inventory of equipment and facilities at the beginning and end
of each session,
• Prepare and submit weekly written activity plans, and
• Prepare and submit 3-week session written activity calendars.
3. Be a supporter in camp program components:
• Assist Group Leaders with campgroups,
• Assist prepare and run Theme Day activities,
• Assist prepare and run Phat Tuesday activities,
• Assist Overnight Coordinator prepare and run Overnight activities,
and
• Assist Extended Care Coordinator with camper care and supervision

Title: Junior Counselor
Reports to: Camp Director/Leadership Coordinator
Primary Responsibility: Be an active facilitator of the physical, emotional
and social needs and growth of the campers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in a
day camp setting.
2. Be a supporter of a campgroup:
• Be your campers’ advocate,
• Assist in the planning, preparing and leading of CampGroup Activities,
• Prepare for campers arrival on opening days,
• Greet each camper in your campgroup each day,
• “Check-in” with each of your campers at least once per day,
• Supervise, participate and encourage campers during morning and afternoon
campfires,
• Aid in daily camper departures,
• Facilitate activities and communication during non-structured times,
• Maintain open communication with parents of campers,
• Help prepare campers for closure at the end of each session, and
• Help plan a campgroup presentation for Fireside Finale.
3. Be a supporter in camp program components:

Title: Leadership Coordinator
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Be responsible for physical, emotional and social
needs and growth of all the Leadership Trainees and Junior Counselors in camp.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in a
day camp setting.
2. Be a mentor for Leadership Trainees:
• Be the LTP advocate,
• Lead Leadership Training Program,
• Review and adapt LTP curriculum,
• Oversee emotional and physical wellness and safety and development of
Leadership Trainees,
• Supervise Leadership Trainees during all program components including
camping trips,
• Collaborating with Overnight Coordinator on logistics of LTP overnights,
• Communicate to staff about LTP responsibilities and expectations, and
• Evaluate Leadership Training Program.
3. Be a mentor for Junior Counselors:
• Be the Junior Counselor advocate,
• Create and lead training sessions for Junior Counselors,
• Oversee emotional and physical wellness and safety of Junior Counselors,
• Meet weekly with Junior Counselors as a group,
• Monitor growth and development of Junior Counselors, and
• Evaluate Junior Counselors.
4. Be a member of the administrative team:
• Attending administration staff training and curriculum planning sessions
prior to camp,
• Attend weekly administrative team meetings,
• Be a support staff for Camp Directors,
• Drive camp vehicles with and without campers,
• Evaluate camp, supervisors and self, and
• Offer and receive feedback with all other staff
Title: Overnight Coordinator
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Coordinate and manage all overnight trips.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in
a day camp setting.
2. Be a representative of Hamlin Camps on all overnights:
• Act as the contact person when communicating with facilities or personnel,
• Lead and supervise personnel on overnights,
• Oversee emotional and physical wellness and safety of campers,
• Train, mentor, and support Leaders with regard to camping skills and
camper safety,
• Evaluate Leaders formally and informally, and
• Evaluate each overnight in writing to the Camp Director regarding
the facility and the experience.
3. Coordinate all aspects of out-of-camp trips:
• Prepare or update safety rules to be approved by the Camp Director,
• Manage inventory of camping supplies ,
• Manage overnight food inventory and report to Camp Director as required,
• Shop for overnight food,
• Safety check any privately used vehicles,
• Aid Camp Director in transportation logistics,
• Be familiar with overnight location before the trip,
• Make and modify camping reservations as necessary,
• Submit content for camper preparations letter to Camp Director,
• Create written overnight schedule/itinerary,
• Organize and prepare all supplies and food for overnights,
• Involve campers or staff in trip preparations as appropriate,
• Prep all overnight staff prior to trip on their responsibilities,
• During overnights, manage program components and schedule,
• Organize campers and staff during campsite arrival,
• Clean and store camping inventory after trips, and
• Inventory and store all camping and overnight equipment at the end
of the summer.
4. Be a member of the administrative team:
• Assist with creating and implementing staff training sessions as needed,
• Attend weekly administrative team meetings,
• Be a support staff for Camp Director,
• Drive camp vehicles with and without campers,
• Evaluate camp, supervisors and self, and
• Offer and receive feedback with all other staff.
Title: Extended Care Coordinator
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Be responsible for physical, emotional and social
needs and growth of all the campers in PM extended care.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in a
day camp setting.
2. Be a leader of the extended care program:
• Be your campers’ advocate,
• Plan, prepare and lead activity choices,
• Prepare for campers arrival each day,
• Greet each camper each day,
• “Check-in” with each camper at least once per day,
• Participate and encourage campers during afternoon campfires,
• Mentor, support, involve and evaluate other Extended Care helpers,
• Meet weekly with Camp Directors,
• Facilitate activities and communication during non-structured times,
• Maintain open communication with parents of campers,
• Prepare campers for closure at the end of each session,
• Attend Fireside Finale, and
• Discuss issues that arise regarding the camp program or campers with
the Camp Director.
3. Be a supporter in camp program components:
• Assist with other aspects of the program as needed.
4. Be a student:
• Attend staff training and apply what is learned,
• Be responsible for information discussed in all staff meetings,
• Evaluate camp, supervisors and self, and
• Offer and receive feedback with all other staff.
Title: Technology Coordinator
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Be responsible for program and marketing components
that involve technology (i.e. website, digital photography, database management).
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Be an advocate of the camp’s goals:
• Teach campers about the recreational resources in the Bay Area,
• Aid in the awareness of public transportation,
• Guide in the development of social responsibility and group cohesiveness,
and
• Provide a traditional “sleep-away camp experience” in
a day camp setting.
2. Website Maintenance
• Upload photos to site as needed,
• Update program information as needed,
• Submit website layout and content ideas, and
• Involve campers in website upkeep as appropriate.
3. Photography and Videomaking
• Shoot weekly photographs of each campgroup and activity,
• Shoot weekly video footage of program components, and
• Create media for sharing of photos and video (i.e. Newspaper, Yearbook,
DVD)
4. Office Management
• Assist Camp Director with camp communications (i.e. emails, faxes,
phone calls, mailings),
• Assist Camp Director with database management (i.e. registration,
attendance, human resources), and
• Assist in other office and database tasks as needed.
5. Be a supporter in camp program components:
• Assist with other aspects of the program as needed.
6. Be a student:
• Attend staff training and apply what is learned,

Title: Sports Camp Head Coach
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Be responsible for curriculum, camper and staff
supervision and managing of individual sports camp program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum management:
• Create or update Sports Camp curriculum,
• Report written curriculum to camp directors, and
• Evaluate curriculum and adapt as necessary.
2. Supervision:
• Lead instructional activities and sessions,
• Identify camper skills and support as necessary,
• Meet with Sports Assistants and set clear guidelines and expectations,
and
• Guide, direct and involve Sports Assistants,
3. Program management:
• Supervise attendance procedures (sign-ins and taking roll),
• Manage inventory of equipment and t-shirts,
• Keep facilities clean and safe,
• Deliver campers to extended care as appropriate,
• Oversee carpool procedures, and
• Ensure proper arrival and departure of campers.
4. Planning/Evaluation:
• Meet with Camp Directors prior to beginning of camp,
• Meet daily with Camp Directors during camp,
• Review and adhere to all staff policies in staff manual,
• Evaluate camp program, staff and self, and
• Offer and receive feedback with all other staff.
Title: Sports Camp Assistant
Coach
Reports to: Camp Director
Primary Responsibility: Assist teaching of sports camp curriculum and
support campers in physical, social and emotional development in the sports
camp program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum:
• Review Sports Camp curriculum,
• Give curriculum input to coach or directors as necessary.
2. Instruction:
• Assist in instructional activities and sessions,
• Identify camper skills and support as necessary,
• Keep facilities clean and safe,
• Meet with Sports Coach and set clear guidelines and expectations,
and
• Take initiative with ideas and assistance as needed.
3. Program management:
